Phoenician Blinds are a London-based jazz-leaning instrumental quartet with blends of straight-ahead jazz, hip-hop and cinematic soundscapes, drawing influences from artists by the likes of Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Robert Glasper and Avishai Cohen.

‚It’s the classic jazzquartet in a slightly different light. We work in an unusually organic way both live and inthe studio, even in jazz terms. The tunes are mostly written at the piano and thenbrought to the studio where no one is given any musical guidelines, let alone any writtenmusic. We just roll and see what happens which gives the tunes a fresh feel and asense that everyone really is meeting at the centre.‘

They’ve been playing around London for three years now making appearances at world renowned venues such as Pizza Express Jazz Club (Soho), Jazz Cafe (Camden), Ronnie Scott’s, Kansas Smitty’s… and this Fishtank Session at Noize Fabrik will be their first ever show in Germany.

The Noize Fabrik #FishtankSessions are live recording sessions open to a limited audience that focus on obtaining optimal audio and film recordings of the artist’s performance. The session is documented by a crew of filmmakers and audio professionals and by entering the space attendees agree to be filmed. We ask the audience to keep from talking or moving in-between songs, and no alcohol is allowed in the performance space during the show. Since the focus of these sessions is the content creation, some songs might be performed more than once or until the artist is comfortable with their performance.
